Voted the best place to live by The Sunday Times…
Voted as the best place to live in the Midlands both in 2018 and 2019… Shispton on Stour is an old market town, situated on the old Oxford to Birmingham Road. Just 30 minutes away from Bleinhem Palace in Woodstock, the birth home of Chrurchill. Not top mention under ten miles from Shakesepeare’s Birthplace in Stratford upon Avon.

But Shipston has become known in it’s own right as the town that is right in the middle of the Cotswolds without actually being in The Cotswolds. The small town has an array of qwirky independent shops, pubs and Restauraunts, Whether you lean towards The Good Old traditional English food to a tea room or whether you prefer to sample an itallian or even bespoke Spanish Tapas, there is an array of eateries in town. The last time I counted there were no fewer than 15 different places in the Town to eat! And a deli to die for too!
It even has it’s own independednt Wine merchants that were once the official distillery for Jameison Whiskey! The Town square site upon The wine cellar. Talking of Distillery, A 15 minute drive out of the town to Stourton will find at The Worldwide famous home of Cotswold Gin!
Shipston has a great Primary and Secondary School too. It is on a direct bus route from Oxoford via Chipping Norton and Stratford upon Avon and it is a 10 minute drive to Moreton in marsh where there is a direct train line from Paddington to Worcester. Really easy to get the train to Heathrow. It’s approximately a 90 minute train journey to Paddington.

One of the most impressive unknown facts is Shipston enjoys it’s very own Micro Climate.  Because of where it is geographically, it is in a Valley, only 200 metres above sea level. To the East is Brailes hill which runs alongside the Oxfordshire and Warwickshire borders and to the north west we are surrounded by the highest hills in Warwickshire seperating it from Gloucestershire and the beginning of The Cotswolds. This is the reason why we are in ‘the middle of’ The Cotswolds! These hills form a protection around the town. I’m not going to lie and say it never rains here but it’s the last place tp get the rain so if it is raining here you can fairly certain that it’s raining elsewhere! The downside to this is if you like to cycle, you can often leave a sunny day in Shipston in your summer Jersey and within 15 minutes of riding out of the town you’ll get rather wet!
Sports :
The town has a rugby club, A football club, a tennis club, a bowls club, a netball club, a cycling club, a cricket club…. The list goes on and on…
Above everything though, it has a very community feel about it!
